Remote disease monitoring is crucial for patients who
live in rural or remote locations, are unable to tolerate journeys
to and from hospital, or have clinical conditions which require
high-frequency monitoring.
OJ-Bio devices are light, portable and give results in minutes - but they also come with in-built communications capability, the ability to send results through wireless networks for clinical feed-back, intervention, or administrative use. They can even be tracked by GPS technology if required.
Surface acoustic wave transducers
Our products use surface acoustic wave (SAW) transducers to
translate antibody-antigen binding events into an electronic signal
- these components are routinely used in mobile phones and other
electronic devices.
They are robust, cost-effective and well suited for mass manufacture. When combined with our bio-selective coatings they form highly sensitive biochips able to simply detect disease-specific antigens in serum, saliva, or urine samples. This makes OJ-Bio devices ideal for remote disease monitoring, with many applications for rural use or situations where clinical readings are needed without patient transfer. They are equally well-suited for use in High Street or walk-in clinics and for consumer diagnostic applications.
